Maine Vacation 2016 Day 3

We slept in a bit and checked out of our hotel at . It was a gorgeous, cloudless morning.

One last trip to The Country Diner. I had an enormous Mexican omelet with home fries and coffee. Colleen had a Monte Cristo (big ass French toast slices) and coffee. Haha, 15 bucks.

After a quick run to the grocery store to grab a bag of baby carrots, we went to Katahdin Shadows Campground to see the owner's outdoor pet rabbits. The foliage was just outrageously beautiful.

After we (in the words of the owner) spoiled our lagomorph friends, we took a short walk and goofed around on the playground.

Then we went to a park on the the East Branch of the Penobscot and enjoyed the day. We tried in vain to catch some Pokémon, but we did get some nice pictures of the river.

Finally, we decided to make our way down to Bar Harbor where we'd be staying the rest of the week. We stopped in Ellsworth to visit the Crystal Clear Family Pet Center (our visit with rabbits earlier demanded that we see other cuddly boos).

At long last, we checked into the Mira Monte Inn, my family's longtime favorite bed and breakfast. Marian Burns, the former innkeeper, passed away in November of 2015. She was a delightful woman and this visit would be different without her. Colleen and I enjoyed some whiskey on the patio outside our room in the cool afternoon air and I reminisced about Marian.

We changed and went to my favorite haunt in Bar Harbor, the Thirsty Whale.

After a bit, we walked around the corner to Geddy's (with a soft G, easy mistake if you're from away) for a bite to eat (and of course, more booze).

Wandering back to our room, we each took a relaxing, hot bath while listening to classical music, shared a bottle of champagne, watched the fireplace in our room, and lounged around in our comfy terrycloth robes. A fine ending to a fine day.

Back to day two or on to day four

Maine will be next region to travel around as will be free after Los Angeles to Yosemite National Park Tour to see more because beauty of national parks attract me a lot and Acadia calls me to be there. Bar Harbor also a big reason to be there.

Maine is my next target to travel more. I want to read more about it before leaving home and after reading your post it seems to me it could be full of fun time for me to see its beauty.
