Maine Vacation 2016 Day 7

Day seven was the long drive home.

We made it a point to have breakfast at the Mira Monte one last time. In doing so, we had a wonderful conversation with Greg Burns, Marian's grandson. We talked about Marian, and the Inn, and he and Colleen talked shop about art. We said our goodbyes to the staff and headed out.

Maine Vacation 2016 Day 6

This was our last full day in Maine, so we had to make it count.

My favorite hike in all of Acadia National Park is Great Head Trail. The views are nothing short of breathtaking on a clear day. It meant a lot to me to share a beautiful morning here with Colleen, and it was here that I took one of my favorite pictures of her.

Maine Vacation 2016 Day 5

On the fifth day, I was excited to get up and take Colleen to Jordan's, famous for their blueberry pancakes. Aside from a couple cups of coffee and said famous pancakes, we also split a lobster omlette. Our server was a delight (her name escapes me).

Maine Vacation 2016 Day 4

We woke up in time to get breakfast. The Mira Monte always does a great job with egg bakes, oatmeal, and coffee. We said hello to a longtime family friend, Katherine, and talked with some of the other guests at the table.

Having a look at the weather, I decided it'd be best for us to take that day and go over to Schoodic Point in Winter Harbor. It's a breathtaking rock beach against the Atlantic.

Maine Vacation 2016 Day 3

We slept in a bit and checked out of our hotel at . It was a gorgeous, cloudless morning.

One last trip to The Country Diner. I had an enormous Mexican omelet with home fries and coffee. Colleen had a Monte Cristo (big ass French toast slices) and coffee. Haha, 15 bucks.

Maine Vacation 2016 Day 2

Having slept a solid 11 hours, we found that there was basically no continental breakfast to be had at our motel. We returned to The Country Diner. I had a delightful breakfast sandwich with home fries and coffee. Colleen had 2 eggs, sausage, home fries, and coffee. 11 bucks. On our way out of the restaurant, a regular patron and presumed Medway, Maine citizen correctly identified us with a grumble.

"Leaf peepers."

Maine Vacation 2016 Day 1

Hauling my mortal coil out of bed on Sunday morning at 4:30 in the AM made me think of the recurring Saturday Night Live sketch with Tim Meadows: Perspectives.

My girlfriend Colleen and I managed to make it out of the house at . We made a quick stop at the gas station for gas in the tank and air in the tires. This gem happened:
