So this past weekend, I threw a bunch of crap in my car and rocketed down to Big Meadows campground in Shenandoah. Joining me: my pals Bowie and Adam from high school.
We spent all day Saturday hiking a 9.5 mile circuit hike up, down, and around Old Rag Mountain (going at a very reasonable pace, it probably took us 10am–4:30pm). It was a beautiful day and there were a lot of people on the mountain. We were all pretty tired afterwards: Adam and I got sunburned like whoa and Bowie must have gone through 2 liters of water. Luckily we had Sam Adams White Ale waiting for us in the cooler back at camp. We rounded off the evening with a massive dinner, a campfire, and s'mores, and we were all in bed by 11pm.
Sunday morning we made a massive breakfast and then we parted ways. Adam went back to his crib in Arlington and Bowie and I took a spur-of-the-moment detour to Harpers Ferry, WV. There was a metric assload of people there, but we managed to grab lunch at the Secret Six Tavern with a Shenandoah Lager. Afterwards, we took a walk from The Point up to the cemetery and then back to the car.
I have no end for this post so I'll take a small bow.
